The Laboratory of Cognitive Sciences and Psycholinguistics (hereafter refered to by its French acronym, LSCP) is a research laboratory affiliated with the EHESS (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales), the ENS (Ecole Normale Supérieure), and the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) (UMR 8554). Our laboratory is located in Paris in the Département d'Etudes Cognitives (DEC) of the Ecole Normale Supérieure.  The LSCP focuses on the biological and psychological foundations underlying high-level mental processes such as language, mathematics and reasoning.

Our
research approach consists of the parallel study of adult processing and infant acquisition in the aim to propose joint processing models (Mehler & Dupoux, 1990 ; Mehler, Dupoux, et Segui, 1990).  We study adults, newborns, and patients with brain lesions using methods borrowed from cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, and neuroscience.  This integrative approach allows us to discover the previously unknown capacities of newborns as well as develop new perspectives in the study of adult processing.
